The San Lorenzo Valley school district has been very good at trying to prepare their students for the future. As soon as 6th grade, there were people coming into our classes teaching us about college and getting us to start planning what we wanted to do with our lives after high school. Back then I thought it was weird they were putting so much pressure on us to know what we were going to do. even with all those efforts, I am still unsure what my future will look like. I took avid in 8th grade and Mr. Oliveri was a firm believer in letting us know that any plan we had was a good one.  In life plans change. Mr. Oliveri constantly had guests coming in to explain how their plans either worked out or didn't. Some people who right out of high school took classes to become EMTs and they still are in that profession. Others went to school to be movie directors and that path lead them to become photographers. What Im trying to convey is that no matter the plan you never know where life will take you. This has allowed me to not stress out about what I'm going to do. for right now my plan is to go to Cabrillo.

On April 14th I have an appointment with a counselor to help me apply for my classes. I plan to take psychology classes. I've always been interested in helping people and why people do what they do. If dance wasn't in my life I would be interested in being a therapist. Because of avid and what it taught me, I am always thinking about how different aspects of my life may lead me to a new adventure. I think that one day I may be interested in being a physical trainer physical therapist etc. I injured my knee 4 years ago and have dealt with reinjury almost every year. My physical therapist was a dancer and worked with me not only to heal but be able to have the same range of motion and ability I had before the injury. So one day I may do that. I will take dance classes at Cabrillo in hopes to keep my technique and grow my artistry. Because I will be staying in town I will continue to work with my dance teacher Angela Chambers. I have told the Tannery World Dance and Cultural Center that I am available and want to help out when I can with substituting and teaching when I can. Angela has said she will write me a letter of rec to teach dance. I would love to apply to teach dance at multiple studios while I am taking Cabrillo classes. I would love to spend my summers traveling and taking dance intensives around the world. Once Im finished two years of Cabrillo I will transfer to a UC or art college.
